Hospice of the Wabash Valley Tulip Fundraiser in Sullivan County:
A Partnership with Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice of the Wabash Valley

Share a sign of life and the hope of spring with someone special – a loved one, a friend or a co-worker. Fresh bouquets of cut tulips are sold in the spring to support the services provided to patients. The Sullivan Rotary Club coordinates the delivery and logistics associated with the tulips sold in Sullivan County in May of each year.  If you would like to order tulips please contact us or Hospice.

The Dictionary Project in Sullivan County:
A Partnership with the Wabash Valley Community Foundation

Learning to define and spell words, exploring the world through maps, and discovering facts about weights and measures are just a few activities that third graders in Sullivan County can participate in, because now each student has a dictionary. The Sullivan Rotary Club coordinates the delivery and processing of the books to guarantee that every third grader receives a dictionary in Sullivan County. The partnership enabled businessmen and women to serve as role models to the students and express the importance of spelling in day-to-day life.

Sullivan High School Senior Awards Banquet
The Sullivan Rotary Club sponsors the annual Sullivan High School Senior Awards Banquet to honor all seniors for their academic honors. The club sponsors the dinner for the Seniors and their families before the scholarship awards are distributed.

Real Men Read in Sullivan County:
A partnership with United Way of the Wabash Valley

Real Men Read is a program that brings men into the Sullivan County Schools to read to students once a month for five months. The program encourages and improves literacy skills of the students, provides mentoring opportunities for men with students and gives students extra attention and positive role models who value education. Each student receives 5 books to build their own home library. Sullivan Rotary supports the program as a sponsor as well as gathers volunteers to read to the children.

Support of Local Clubs, Organizations and Schools
The Rotary Club is able to support local clubs, organizations and schools monetarily based on their need and benefit to the community. If your organization has a need, please send your request to the Sullivan Rotary Club at P.O. Box 51, Sullivan, Indiana 47882. The club will review all requests and vote on supporting your organization and at what monetary level.

Rotary International
Rotary International, the world’s first service organization, is made up of over 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Its members form a global network of business, professional and community leaders who volunteer their time and talents to serve their communities and the world.

Rotary's motto, Service Above Self, exemplifies the humanitarian spirit of the organization's more than 1.2 million members. Strong fellowship among Rotarians and meaningful community and international service projects characterize Rotary worldwide.

The club is the cornerstone of Rotary, where the most meaningful work is carried out. All effective Rotary clubs are responsible for four key elements: sustaining or increasing their membership base, participating in service projects that benefit their own community and those in other countries, supporting The Rotary Foundation of RI financially and through program participation, and developing leaders capable of serving in Rotary beyond the club level.

What Rotarians get out of Rotary depends largely on what they put into it. Many membership requirements are designed to help members become and remain active participants in their clubs and enjoy their Rotary experience.

The 4-Way Test
The 4-Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

  • Is it the TRUTH?
  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

We are always looking for new members to join the Sullivan Rotary Club. Contact any of our officers for more information or attend one of our weekly meetings.
